Everybody has their hero (or heroine), and when I was a lot younger my hero was Michael Johnson. If you don’t remember, he became one of the greatest sprinter’s in Olympic history after breaking the 200m and 400m records in the same Olympic meet! At that time, my whole life was track & field and I dreamed of breaking his records in my own Olympic meet. Fast forward 13 years later and I haven’t even come close to the Olympics but I have found a new focus and a new set of heroes.
If you haven’t guessed already, my new focus is photography and much like that 13 year-old I used to be I am working hard to be like my newest hero. This time around his name is Anders Overgaard and he’s pretty much the dopest photographer walking the earth. The first time I saw his work (over a year ago) I was blown. Trust me, I have probably looked at the website of every pro photographer known to man. I’ve seen some GREAT work but Mr. Overgaard is pulling a serious Michael Johnson on the photography world. In short, I am inspired by his work because it mixes great composition, amazing lighting and a “cinematic” effect to create the most amazing lifestyle images I’ve ever seen. As a wedding photographer, I want to create that same feeling for my brides when they look through their own wedding albums and hopefully be their photography hero one day.
You can view more of Anders work here.
*NOTE* I did NOT take these pics…. but give me a few years.
